About the tour
The Isle of Man is a unique blend of unspoiled coastal landscapes, sandy beaches, and stunning scenery. The rich Celtic heritage is evident all over the island, and we experience it as we ride vintage railways, explore historic towns, and enjoy the relaxed pace of life.
Each day is an adventure of picturesque landscapes and captivating history as we journey on a horse-drawn tram down Douglas promenade, explore Peel's medieval castle, and soak up the natural beauty of the Calf of Man. This captivating island promises a getaway of culture, beauty and restoring fresh air.

Itinerary
Our holiday begins when we meet our Tour Manager and the rest of our group in Heysham, Lancashire before boarding the early afternoon ferry that takes us to the Isle of Man. As we sail across the Irish Sea, on a clear day we can enjoy expansive views during our crossing, while keeping an eye out for seabirds, and possibly spotting dolphins if we are lucky.
We catch our first glimpse of the Isle of Man's gentle rolling landscapes as we approach Douglas. Stepping off the ferry in the early evening, we take a short stroll along the waterfront, passing an impressive parade of Victorian buildings to the Claremont Hotel, where we stay for the next five nights. After checking in, there's time to settle in to our rooms, before we gather again for dinner.

Nothing went wrong but we would have preferred not having to walk to the hotel when we arrived.

The majority of the experience was excellent with good hotel, clear travel arrangements and a competent tour manager. Our only two minor criticisms were to do with a visit and part of a tour. At the original House of Keys we were promised an interactive experience but we were not given the opportunity to participate. The guide ran an interesting 'video' presentation but at times spoke over it so that we could hear neither him nor the recording. Several members dozed off during the presentation. With reference to the tour, our driver was a Manxman and proud of his island and he told us a lot about its customs and current happenings, however when we were on the TT Course it was interesting hearing from a retired TT rider for part of it, but ehn the rider left us our driverss commentary describing every kink in the road, leaning right, leaning left and where the riders were in the air over bumps etc was over the top. Several members of the group caught the electric tram from Romsey back to Douglas because they had heard enough. We would recommend the tour to any friends who wished to go.

We enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel was comfy and the food was delicious. All the tours were well planned and our tour manager was really helpful and caring. We had plenty of free time to enjoy other experiences.

A good break, plenty of railway interest, an excellent hotel, and very helpful but unobtrusive leader in David , and a sensible sized group, not too large.
